About the Coalition

About the Coalition

Care has been effectively ignored for decades. Now is the time to act and make a real difference to all those receiving and delivering care.
The Future Social Care Coalition includes former health and care ministers, employers and the largest union in social care. It’s the first time such a group has come together to push for change.

Who we are

chairs

Christina McAnea, General Secretary, UNISON

“Care has long been the forgotten service. The pandemic has magnified the sector’s faults like nothing else.”

Phil Hope, former Minister of State for Care Services

“Its problems cannot be ignored for a moment longer. This unprecedented alliance brings together employers, politicians who know about the sector and the biggest care union to make a powerful case for change. Now the government needs to listen and start to take the care crisis more seriously.”

Rt Hon Stephen Dorrell, Former Secretary of State for Health

“Care needs urgent and lasting reform. Paying dedicated staff who look after our elderly and vulnerable relatives a proper wage would start to transform care into a service fit for the future.”
